Pleiades (Seven Sisters)
Pleiades (Seven Sisters)
The drilled holes in this handcrafted 3/4" sterling silver circle pendant represent the stars that make up the Pleiades star cluster. The pendant hangs from an 18" sterling silver open link chain.
Located within the Taurus constellation, Pleiades is an open star cluster visible all over the globe at various times of the year. Also known as the Seven Sisters, Pleiades was used by the ancient Greeks as an indicator of the sailing season in the Mediterranean Sea. In mythology, the Seven Sisters refer to the daughters of Atlas and Pleione, who were all said to have been pursued by Orion both in life and in the night sky.
If you want to enjoy this constellation during the daylight hours, on a cloudy night, or under the bright city lights, this necklace is for you.
